Jivko Sedlarski

Zhivko Sedlarski was born in 1958 in Elhovo, Bulgaria. His first encounter with art came in his father’s studio—Col. Kolyo Sedlarski, a painter and head of the Military Artists’ Studio in Bulgaria. Unlike his father, Zhivko chose sculpture as his path. He graduated from the Technical School of Ceramics and Glass in Sofia in 1977, and in 1989 completed his studies at the National Academy of Arts. He also attended anatomy courses at the Medical Academy under Prof. Pavlov and later specialized in sculpture at the Academy of Arts in Berlin.

Zhivko Sedlarski is not just a sculptor but an artist who transforms metal, stone, and resin into living forms. Born in Bulgaria and trained in Sofia and Berlin, he is best known for his monumental series “Steel Ladies.” These sculptures, at once strong and delicate, capture the movement of flowing gowns in rigid material, evoking both elegance and inner power.

Since the 2000s, Sedlarski has gained worldwide recognition, with his works displayed in major cultural landmarks such as the Luxembourg Gardens in Paris, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London, and international events like the Jinji Lake Biennale in China. His art transcends borders, speaking a universal language of form and beauty that resonates across cultures.
